Art

About Alexandra

Alexandra is a self-taught graphic designer and illustrator from Tulcea, Romania. She just finished her bachelor in Chemical Engineering at University Politehnica of Bucharest when she decided it’s time to pursue one of her true passions. Starting autumn she’s a student at a Graphic and Design master at UPB. The first encounter with Adobe Illustrator was four years ago when she joined BEST Bucharest, when the best years and the greatest challenges started kicking in. Now she is a future intern at Mready app development company in Bucharest and a freelancer with an instagram account where she pursues the artistic approach of drawing, painting, crafting and anything a pair of skilful hands can do. When she’s painting she sings her heart out, and when she’s not painting she’s outdoors looking at ducks, leaves or climbing mountains. Proud mama of 7 plants and auntie of Oreo the Border Collie.

About Workshop

In this workshop we are going to cover the basics of lights, shadows and planes while getting to know a little bit about each other in a laid back talk about our journey with painting. Because in art you need to learn by doing, we will get our hands dirty with a simple exercise and create a portrait using only black and white.

About Diana

Diana Vișan is part time 2nd year student of UPB, part time art lover. For her, painting was at first just a pursuit of interest and quickly became an addiction. While drawing she discovers what she really wants to say, and she sees art as a way to train the soul.

About the Workshop

Diana will be your guide through the VISUART Museum, or how she likes to call it “the place where knowledge, inspiration, and skill meet” During the workshop, we’ll discover each thematic room on its own, with the purpose of getting a deeper understanding on how art is actually: “thinking made visual”. On the list, we have a short and comprehensive look at the history of art, a real-time overview of the basic rules of drawing/techniques, and an interactive sharing session meant to inspire one another. On top of that, we’ll get the chance to put into practice our skills and spontaneity through practical exercises. Make sure you prepare your pencil, your papers, and most importantly, your eraser.

Graphic Design

About Ionuț

Ionuț is a Graphic Designer, Art Director and Illustrator with 6 years of experience in the field. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Engineering and Management in Denmark, working as a Technological Architect until he realized that his true passion is Graphic Design. Since he changed his career he has had the opportunity to create brand identities, marketing campaigns and creative materials for the Romanian Youth Capital, Scandinavian Startups, Marketing Agencies and Film Festivals and has had the honor of being invited at an international design festival in Dubai as an exhibitor. Besides the boring parts, he is also passionate about beers with friends, he works with some cool people on a drawing on YouTube (wow bro) in which they tell their lives and he does stand-up in the shower when no one hears him.

About the Workshop

He will make a small presentation in which he will talk about design, first in the general visual context in which we will see what the general ideas and principles are and how they work. Then he will make a series of posters with a common theme, either a project of yours or a material learned in faculty. The posters will be sketched first and then digitally transposed using a graphic program. The goal is to translate the ideas in your head into an easy-to-understand graphic language that captures attention.

About Ingrid

A music fan in art school – this couldn’t have been avoided. Ingrid Enache is a designer from Constanta, Romania, currently studying media & communication at Design Academy Eindhoven. She likes loud music and even louder colours, and they all come together in her art. She is constantly experimenting with different types of media and techniques – graphic design, photography, video, 3D media, typography. Huge inspirations are old rave flyers, kitsch, trash and anything shiny. And music, of course. Even when she is working with screens all day, she loves a bit of analog media – she collects cassettes and tries to merge traditional drawing and collage into her digital works. She recently got a synth so who knows, maybe next time she will be on this line-up as a musician!

About the Workshop

Ingrid will bring together her interests in both digital and analog media to offer a zine making workshop. She will go through the history and significance of the zine as printed matter, as well as examples of her work which follow the same ethos. The second half will be a collective zine making session around the general theme of music. Together they will create a playlist and a collection of zines made by the participants. As a participant, you will need: A4 paper, pens and pencils of choice, old newspapers or magazines that you would sacrifice for a collage.
